Fatigue & Morning Sickness

Some people say you don't need prenatal vitamins, and others think they are essential. Anyone who knows me knows we eat mostly fruits and veggies in our house. A typical day starts out with steel cut oatmeal, or on occasion eggs and homemade hashbrowns, followed by lunch and snacks at school consisting of gluten free lunch meat roll ups or a sandwich and 2 or 3 fresh fruits and/or vegetables. Snacks in my house consist of fresh foods, not junk food, unless it's a very rare occasion when I might buy a bag of natural potato chips. Dinner usually consists of a lean meat/seafood and veggie, or a starch and a veggie (like sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes).

But these last few weeks of pregnancy have been difficult for me. I've been trying to eat fresh fruits and veggies, but with the prenatals I feel nauseous when my stomach is not really full. Mainly, I can eat a great salad or smoothie at night but very early morning my stomach feels empty and I wake up. The problem is that I can't eat that early, and I try to go back to sleep. Then when I wake up for the day I feel more nauseous. The only thing I WANT to eat, and usually enjoy in the morning, is a banana! The problem: I want to throw up after I take a bite, and it gets worse the more I eat. So instead I eat a plain biscuit from wherever I can get it. The problem with that... I'm not hungry for a while after. And I'm tired.

So I nap, and try to eat something healthy later on in the day. I tried not taking the prenatals so I could feel better and just keep eating like normal, but it's not working. I feel extremely fatigued when I'm not taking them. So it's kinda a rock-hard place situation I wish I could find a way out of.

Like today. I forgot to take my prenatals yesterday, and fell asleep pretty early. Woke up to my alarm at 6am, snoozed but my phone turned off so I didn't wake up until 7:30. Took the kids to school and had already missed my 7am class so laid down for a short nap. Slept until sometime after noon. Ate lunch, and went to my afternoon class. Came home and was exhausted again!

I took my prenatals tonight, but struggle with eating the healthy fruits and veggies I love so much because the nausea is so much worse. Nausea or fatigue. Which one is the lesser evil?
